Hoover Dam

Daily 9am - 5pm
Hwy. 93, Boulder City

The Basics

The dam is a popular day-trip destination from Las Vegas and transportation options range from comedy buses, Hummers, and mountain bikes. On-site, tour the power plant, learn how the dam generates and distributes electricity, and see stunning views of the surrounding riverways, canyons, and valleys. Some tours even combine a Hoover Dam visit with shooting range stops, excursions to the Grand Canyon’s West Rim, or a cruise on Lake Mead. Want a bird’s-eye view? Opt for a flightseeing helicopter tour instead.

Grand Canyon West Rim Bus Tour & Hoover Dam Photo Stop with Optional Skywalk
We had a great time! Bus was clean and the tour guide was funny. The Grand Canyon was breath taking especially on the sky walk. Just wish we were able to stop on the Hoover Dam to actually see the dam. I'm glad the weather wasn't too hot to enjoy the views. Would do the tour again!

Grand Canyon West Rim Bus Tour with Hoover Dam Stop, Meals and Optional Upgrades
Tameka our bus driver was amazing. She made the trip even more enjoyable. This was our first time seeing the Grand Canyon and the Hoover dam. The bus ride was comfortable. The only recommendation I would make is that The bottled water should be put on iced. The weather was very hot and the water being as hot as it was was not enjoyable.

Hoover Dam Tour from Las Vegas
My husband and I chose the half day tour, and we're extremely pleased with our trip! It ended up being a couple hours longer than we anticipated (I believe it said 4.5 hours, and from the tike we were picked up to drop off was about 5 or 5.5 hours) but we were totally fine with it! We made several stops and had ample opportunities to take pictures and see different views. We loved hearing the history of the Hoover Dam. The bus was clean and heated/cooled. We would definitely recommend!

Everything Hoover Dam Including Boulder City Breakfast Half Day
Jason and Brian were great tour guides (guide and driver). The experience of visiting the Hoover Dam was very well worth it, it was memorable, very enjoyable and informative. We did a walking tour on the Bridge, we visited the Hoover Dam inside the generators, engine life of the Dam, and learned some cool information on the History and building of the Dam. We had a stop in Boulder City, and the overlook to the Lake Mead! Best tour to experience the Hoover Dam ~ Nicoleta

Grand Canyon West Rim With Hoover Dam Photo Stop From Las Vegas
The journey to the Grand Canyon (& the return) was excellent, hugely informative & great fun, thanks to our driver, Wally. Hoover Dam was anticlimactic to be honest, as the photo stop was quite a way back from the dam itself. Being able to walk across it & look down onto the Colorado River, would have been far better. The Grand Canyon was breathtaking, though a few hours just isn't enough time.

Everything was so well organised. Mel the driver was very good and Ian the tour had a wealth of knowledge accompanied by good humour. Nothing was to much trouble for them. The Canyon was awesome and the stop at the Hoover Dam was interesting. Definitely recommend it.

When to Get There

Because of the stifling desert heat in summer, spring and fall are the best times to visit the Hoover Dam. Expect long lines and heavy traffic on summer weekends; opt for an early morning visit to avoid crowds.

Inside Hoover Dam

A Hoover Dam tour features much more than just a 726-foot (221-meter) wall. Explore tunnels that were bored directly into the mountainside, hear the harrowing tales of workers who carved them out by hand, and tour the power plant. The Hoover Dam Visitor Center offers even more info about America’s most famous dam.
