Stonehenge

Junction of A303 and A344/360, England

The Basics

Entrance to Stonehenge is via timed ticket. You’ll be able to view the stones from a few meters away, and shuttle transportation between the observation areas is included with entry. Access to the stones is limited to 30 minutes, but you can spend as long as you like exploring the site’s visitor center. If you want to visit the Inner Circle and walk among the stones, you’ll need to book a special tour outside of public opening hours. Day tours from London are often combined with nearby attractions such as Oxford, Windsor Castle, Bath, Stratford-Upon-Avon, or the Cotswolds.

London to Stonehenge Shuttle Bus and Independent Day Trip
Bus driver was very nice. Basically the tour company arranges your bus for you. Once you are at Stonehenge, be aware that you need to download the app in order to do the audio tour. Ever since covid, they no longer have headsets. Make sure your phone has enough data and Battery to do so. The food court is great

Stonehenge and Bath Day Trip from London
This was a perfect way to get out of the busyness of city life and enjoy a scenic drive while also seeing some ancient sites. The bus was comfortable and clean and the driver was superb. Our guide was fun, informative and gave us enough info without being too much. There was plenty of time at Stonehenge, and enough at Bath though we could have stayed longer! All in all, it is a great value and we didn’t feel rushed.

Southampton: Post-Cruise Tour to London via Salisbury, Stonehenge and Windsor
Mike the guide was FANTASTIC… very knowledgeable and interesting. Salisbury cathedral was very nice and Stonehenge was awesome. Unfortunately it was a day that Windsor Castle was closed to the public so we toured the outside and around the town and the town of Eaton.

Private Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Bath from London
This was our first tour on vacation. Unfortunately, the car broke down with the guide I wanted at the last minute. He was able to scramble and get another driver to take us to our locations. Mohammad was great. Even though he was not a guide he got us to our locations. Windsor and Stonehenge had nice audio tours. Definitely a must trip.

Stonehenge, Avebury, Cotswolds. Small guided day tour from Bath (Max 12 persons)
Such great fun and Colin was great! We were one of the first to arrive to Stonehenge so it was like we had the place to ourselves for a good 45 minutes. I was a Classical Archaeology major in college so this place has always been on my bucket list. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!!

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge, and Oxford Day Trip from London
Great tour to catch a lot of a lot of different areas. Was fast, but perfect. Stonehenge was the highlight of this tour. We could have done without Oxford, but still nice to see another area of UK.

Stonehenge Inner Circle Access Day Trip from London Including Windsor
Such an amazing experience. Definitely worth every penny. The 530a departure was rough but definitely worth it. We were the only group inside stonehenge for an hour. Do not hesitate to book. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. Not just about the tour but London itself. Our driver was great too.

Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath Tour from London with Admission
If you have enough time in London, this trip is a must. Enjoyed every aspect. You will have time to eat—that was something I wasn’t sure of in the description/other reviews. I highly recommend booking with access to all 3–Windsor, Roman Baths, and Stonehenge. All worth seeing. Wonderful day with our lovely tour guide, Bruce, and driver, Dan.

Stonehenge and Bath - Day Tour from Brighton
Very lovely day in Stonehenge and Bath. Only problem is long ride back as Stonehenge was before Bath and ride back straight from Bath.

When to Get There

Stonehenge is open all year round, but the most atmospheric time to visit is during the summer or winter solstice, when a huge party celebrates the longest and shortest days of the year, and entrance is free. Although visits are timed, it can get crowded in summer, so arrive early or opt for a sunrise or sunset tour to experience the landmark at its most photogenic.
