Other historical concepts you learn are what other medieval punishments happened at that time, how the development of cemeteries came about, and what the Acts of Faith of the Inquisition were. Get a chance to hear some of the city's really gnarly legends, along with the history.

The tour starts around twilight so the starting time varies during the year, earlier in the winter (7pm) and later in the summer (9pm). Although some of Barcelona's legends might be included, please note that this is not a Ghost Tour but an historical walk focused on the more gruesome part of the city's past. These are the themes you will explore during the walking tour: • Methods of the Spanish Inquisition • Medieval punishments in Barcelona • Types of execution in the city • Development of cemeteries • Public executions in Barcelona • Acts of Faith of the Inquisition • Barcelona's dark legends The walk starts from Arc de Triomf and it ends at El Born CC, next to a safe area with plenty of restaurants, metro stations and taxi stops. Please ask your guide for directions and recommendations, if needed. For quality purposes and extra interaction with the guide, the number of participants is limited to 15 per group so it is strongly recommended to book early. Because of the content, this tour is not recommended for children younger than 14.

Ross was a fantastic guide and made this a really great experience. He was very engaging, the group was encouraged to participate in the story telling and he had a wealth of knowledge. I would highly recommend this tour, as you would never know the rich history of the part of Barcelona without taking this tour.

Took the tour last Thursday with Andy as our tour guide. He was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable and also very funny with his jokes. The towns we visited were lovely although a lady took over as our guide in Montepulciano and there was a lot of uphill walking and I found her italian accent hard to follow. However, after finally reaching the top puff puff! and finishing there, our favourite Andy was back as our guide. Lunch was amazing at the farm house along with the wine tasting. Highly recommend doing this tour.

It is exactly as it is represented. It is mostly about the Inquisition and the justice system, that is, the very, very long nightmare of Church dominance and injustice in Spain until recently just like almost everywhere else in the world where one religion or dogma has the State's endorsement and life has little value. Everyone should know this stuff. Do this tour but don't expect to laugh. Our guide was very knowledgeable.

I was a little disappointed. I feel that the tour was full of dramatics but not much substance. I dont know if I learned much real history. The focus was more on storytelling and legends and wasnt sure if it was fact or fiction. i felt like it was geared toward a 12 year old boy, but there was only one child in group of 14. I wanted to mostly hear details about spanish inquisition. This was touched on but not in the depth i was expecting.

The Dark Past Night Walking Tour focuses on themes like the Spanish Inquisition, methods of execution, history of cemeteries and a couple of dark legends in Barcelona. On the tour we have two long stops focused exclusively on the Spanish Inquisition but, as mentioned previously, it is not only about that. It is a 2 hour tour where we pack many other themes all related to the darker side of the history of the city. Some parts are fascinating from an historical point of view, others are based on some of the legends of the city and finally some fun interactive parts are also included. The tour is all based on well researched historical facts while the legends are only about 20% of the actual tour content. I can assure you that you did learn real history. Again, we are sorry that you thought it was an specialised tour on the Spanish Inquisition. We feel that you do learn a lot about the issue but it is not intended to be an in-depth study about it. This will require a longer tour focusing exclusively on the Inquisition. Thank you for the feedback and I hope you had a fantastic time in Barcelona :-)

This was an amazing tour and incredibly accessible. One of the participants on the tour had a broken leg and the tour guide was super accommodating and made sure the group went at a pace everyone was comfortable with. Only thing though, please please arrive at least 10 minutes beforehand. Our tour ended up leaving maybe 10-15 mins after the departure time because we were waiting for someone else to arrive, but eventually didn't, and that meant that a few of the areas we needed to pass through were locked. Otherwise, super informative, our guide was charismatic af and the delivery of the stories he gave was well paced. 10/10 Definitely recommend! TipYourGuide
