Harlem has an incredibly rich musical history and played an instrumental role in the evolution of jazz, blues, and gospel. Begin your tour in Times Square, where you meet your guide and board a comfortable coach for the drive north to Harlem.

Pass iconic music venues like the Apollo Theater and the Cotton Club, plus other cultural landmarks including the former home of Duke Ellington and the stately residences of Sugar Hill and Hamilton Heights. Disembark to explore parts of the neighborhood by foot. Along the way, your guide shares pieces of Harlem’s history as an important enclave for African American writers, artists, and musicians throughout the decades.

Make your way to a local church and join the congregation for a traditional Sunday morning service. Listen to a rousing sermon and admire the soulful vocals of a live gospel choir.

If you selected the brunch option during booking, you are also treated to Sunday brunch at a local Harlem restaurant. Savor southern-inspired soul food including fried chicken and spicy ribs, served with sides like buttery cornbread, collard greens, and macaroni and cheese.

At the end of your tour, return back to the departure point.

The tour guide is excellent. Kelly Temple was a great experience, where the singing really moved me. The lead singer, dressed in white, is really powerful. The Cotton Club served an unforgettable brunch, best flavor I tasted for a long time. Everyone loved their gospel band. The tour guide showed Evian lot of interesting places.
Wonderful experience

I loved the Youth Expressube Dance, the church we attended had Youth Day on the same day. I also loved the Gospel Singers, the testimonies and church greetings! Aterwards, we went to the icionic Apollo Theatre, and brought sovereigns had brunch @ The Cotton Club with more gospel singing which felt like Praise Worship when we all danced and formed a spiritual line. WONDERFUL!!!!!
Not good

With all the respect that the church deserves, Isn’t what the advertisement shows, very disappointing
Didn‘t like the tour
, Jul 2022
Wanted to give my daughters a little impression about gospels in US. Unfortunately the least touching tour I‘ve ever been to (and I‘ve already attended some, since friends came to visit me, while I was living in the States couple of years ago). Almost no locals in church but a bulk of bored tourists. Tour guide seemed bored too. Very disappointing.
Awesome Tour

Thank you for your feedback on our tour. We had some clients that were lost and we did hold the bus until they arrived out of courtesy. We explained this to everyone on the bus who were ok with this decision and we also extended the tour time to make up for the late start. We sent you a message via the portal and presented our apologies as soon as we were told just the day before that the restaurant would be closed. We advised you that we issued a refund for this portion of the tour. Unfortunately, This is a circumstance beyond our control, and for the safety of our group the restaurant preferred to close after finding out a staff member had a positive covid test. The Ranger led house tour of Hamilton Grange is not included in our tour or description. The tour is about 15 minutes for 5 people at a time as it is a very small historic site. We had a full bus so it would not have been possible to get everyone through on time. The guide gave a full presentation of the site and allowed guests free time to explore the grounds and take pictures. Whilst the group was exploring, she went to the side to have a cigarette away from the group not while she was conducting the tour. We take all feedback seriously and always strive to improve the customer experience. However, in all fairness we also received some feedback from the other guests about not being able to hear everything the guide was saying because your party kept talking during the tour. We state that we reserve the right to conduct our tours in 2 languages. We have highly trained multilingual tour guides that give historical tour details equally in both languages. This is not an easy task and when there are disruptions from people talking on their phones or speaking loudly over the tour guide causing her to ask repeatedly to keep the volume down so everyone else can hear; I am sure you would agree it certainly makes the experience more challenging for everyone. Cordially,

Very good tour guide, he could tell a mit about the parts og town we were driving through. But dissapointing little focus on the Gospel part in the church. We had expected a choir.
Do tour, skip lunch.

Seeing Harlem was interesting. The church was very welcoming. Lunch was a bit disappointing, mainly because it was not the original Cotton Club, food was mediocre. Place was not clean and smelled stale.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. we are glad that you enjoyed our Sunday Harlem Gospel tour and the church service. We are sorry that the brunch did not meet your expectations. The original Cotton Club closed in the 1940's. This Cotton Club opened in the late 1970's to bring back the rich tradition of big band jazz back to the neighborhood. We will share your feedback with the Club's management so that they can address any gaps in their presentation.

Bad Experience
, Jan 2020
First we experienced a rude guide. When we got to the church in the Bronx, not Harlem, there were no place to seat. Nothing like the picture, no choir with gowns, nothing like advertised. Too expensive for what they provide..bad experience!!

Thank you for your message. We are really surprised by your feedback following this particular tour. Our entire group was seated comfortably at the church. Can you please give us more specifics on your experience with your guide? kindly reach out to us at

Harlem Gospel Tour
, Nov 2019
I booked a french Harlem Gospel Tour excursion via Viator for October 2019. I had done this excursion about 15 years ago with another company. We had a french guide named Michele. She was my concern for this evaluation. Michele, even though se seemed nice and willing to share, was very unclear, messy and disrespectful. She was talking about 5 différents subjects at the same time, not finishing on explaination. Really hard to follow and understand. While showing a building or a part of Harlem, she hardly said where to look (right or left), often finished her explaination with a … oh, too late, we've passed already. Even when I loudly ask to know where to look, she hardly changed her way to present the tour. She choose who she wanted to speak to, and did not treat everyone the same way. Every time we could leave the bus, we had no explanation about when to come back, where would the bus be. We almost missed the bus once because of that. Also during the Gospel, we saw some people leaving the Church without knowing we were concerned too. I was a lot of stress for me and my daughter and because of Michele and the way she lloked after the group, we could not really enjoy the tour.

Church on Sunday
, Oct 2019
What a fantastic way to spend Sunday morning. It was a big tour 57 on our bus, it was also bilingual English and Italian. Our guide Anthony, was great managing both effortlessly. His knowledge and stories about New York were great, showing us different parts of Harlem before heading to the church. The "hour of power"was lovely, great singing, all of the soloist were outstanding and we were welcomed with open arms and hearts. Very enjoyable!

Amazing Grace tour

The tour was amazing. It was well organized and our guide, Damien, was knowledgeable, patient and appeared to enjoy his job. He had great interaction with the group. He is definitely an A+ guide. The church congregation was friendly and welcoming, and the choir was outstanding. The luncheon after the service at the iconic Cotton Club was only rivalled by the music trio and the guest singer. We learned about the history or Harlem and the surrounding districts. We highly recommend this tour.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide, Sheila was very knowledgeable, I learned a lot about Harlem. The visit to the church service was a wonderful experience, very emotional. Lunch at the Cotton Club was very nice...plenty of fried chicken & some good entertainment. I will definitely go back to explore Harlem & I would recommend this tour.
