We will meet you in front of the ticket gates at the central exit of Sangenjaya station and will provide detailed instructions on how to reach Sangenjaya from your accommodation a few days before the tour.

  • Smoking is permitted in most bars and restaurants in Japan and therefore we don't advise pregnant travelers to join this tour
  • There will be some light walking involved on this tour through narrow back streets so comfortable footwear is recommended.

Amazing private Sangenya back-alley Izakaya experience

We had such a wonderful & exciting experience with Simon! He made it very special for us and we brought along our dear friend who is a local from Japan that has never ventured through the back-alley of Sangejaya and she lives in the neighboring city. She was astounded by the amazing night life and with Simon as our tour, we had nothing but a first class experience. Wow, we had a lot of great drinks and foods...we all left stuffed. An additional heartfelt thanks to Simon for remembering it was our dear friend's birthday on that day and he had the last Izakaya facility sing Happy Birthday to my friend with a cheese like topping shaped as a piece of cake and sparklers!! What a memorable end to our tummies being full of contentment. Thank you Simon for sharing this spectacular experience with all of us. Simon was terrific and we really bonded. The food was excellent. Although the tour was listed as 3 hours, we spent over 4 hours on this night. Warning, much drinking on this tour. I really felt that we got to see a side of Tokyo that most tourists would not. Highly recommended if you enjoy trying local cuisine, street food and drinks.

My 17 year old son and I just returned from our trip to Asia and the Tokyo Food Tour was certainly one of the highlights of our vacation. Our tour guide Simon allowed us to experience Tokyo food like a local. The food was both interesting and delicious and Simon is a great person to hang out with for an evening for great food and conversation. I highly recommend this tour!
